Becoming a Fully-Expressed Human

“We are all shaped by our stories, threads of joy and sorrow, pain and pleasure that weave the fabric of our lives. My story led me to Sacred Threads.” So wrote Fiona Lovell Horning in 2016. She was describing her introduction to Sacred Threads and specifically to Rosemary Mulvihill, the organization’s co-founder. At the time, 2009 – 2010, Fiona had reached a level of depression she had never known.

Working closely with Rosemary and her mental health team, she eventually emerged to become strong, connected, and hopeful.

“I am tremendously grateful for Rosemary and the infant organization she created,” says Fiona. She has stayed closely connected to Rosemary and the programs that make up Sacred Threads. “Sacred Threads, she says, “ has the capacity to accompany its members through joy, pain, or uncertainty, lending spiritual insight, compassion, humor, and healing.”

With over ten years of good mental health, Fiona makes art, writes, and provides life coaching. “As a  multi-passionate artist, coach, and writer, she explains on her website.  “I’m fascinated by the experience of becoming a fully-expressed human –  imperfect yet complete.”

“There is so much beyond our control,” she says, “ but my experience tells me that with commitment and intention, we can develop our understanding of ourselves and lead meaningful, rewarding lives.  We can befriend our psychological suffering and use it to find greater connection and empathy for ourselves and each other.”

Sacred Threads is grateful to Fiona for her commitment and loyalty to our organization and mission.  Fiona explores, through her writing, the theme of “Eudaimonia,” which translates from Ancient Greek as “Human Flourishing” and includes topics such as motherhood and family, art and travel.
